Holdenby House Wedding Photography

Wedding Photography at Holdenby House: Timeless Elegance in a Historic Setting

Only a few weeks after Clark & Lindsey’s epic engagement shoot at Holdenby House, the wedding rolled around, never before has a wedding and DC comics found such harmonious union. We have a groom called Clark, table centres which include comic books and button holes containing Lego figurines of Batman, Wolverine and the likes – fantastic (fun fact, Lego comes from Denmark!) Luck was certainly on side this day, not only did the sun appear exactly when it was supposed to, but even the horses ran in winners just before the ceremony started. One thing I have noticed in recent weddings is the growing trend of guests (lets be honest, the male guests) throwing the entire confetti cone, see if you can spot it, tres amusing it has to be said.

A Glimpse into Holdenby House’s History

Holdenby House is a stunning piece of Victorian architecture set inside huge Grade I listed gardens. The approach up a long and narrow driveway includes a clever little ascent which allows the house to reveal itself as you rise over the crest. The house is massive, and the silhouette of the house captures the eye against spring blue skies. It truly defies belief that a house of such stature is a mere fragment of its former self. By all accounts the original house was a whopping seventy eight thousand square feet, only the arches in the now bull field stand as testament to its previous grandeur.

I love the commitment to the Marvel and DC universe. The wedding did a fantastic job of showing me just how little I know about comic books. Every single wedding table, instead of a number, had a comic book depicting a wedding within the comic book worlds, the incredible hulk, captain America, all the usual cats. I had no idea that it was that expansive, I genuinely thought it was a handful of guys fighting crime and beating up bad guys going ‘pow’, never before had i imagined that they would have plot lines that went that deep. I’m assuming that the relationships of these characters is established over a number of books, maybe someone can help me with that.

If you’re stuck for ideas on how to entertain your guests. Always go for croquet. I’ve never been to a wedding where croquet was laid out on the lawn and it didn’t result in hilarious pictures. Everyone, loves it. It does often descend into golf swings by the end, but the tactics involved and the fact that you can truly screw over your competitors by whacking their ball into the bushes makes it a game that the ultra competitive and all round dastardly absolutely love.

I am truly honoured to be a part of so many intimate moments and amazing emotionally charged days. Have you ever been so nervous you double hand fanned yourself? I’m pretty sure that will be me on my wedding day, but its incredible to be within touching distance of people as they go through such significant moments. Holdenby House is a beautiful venue for wedding photography, I had an amazing time and thank you so much for letting me be there to be a part of it. If you are in need of the best wedding photographer northampton, then give me a call!
