Sanctum on the Green – we meet again!
I love this place, its intimate, quiet, cosy, friendly…and has iron maiden gold discs all over the place – it adds to the charm. I think its owned or associated with the bands producer or record label, who knows, or quien sabes as they say in spanish (im learning-slowly). When you meet a bride to be who is also a wedding blogger you know the day is going to be awesome, and Dani didn’t disappoint. Hand made decorations, flowers everywhere, a considered colour palette and little touches here and there which flow with the theme and maintain a strong sense of the couples style. Theres a few outstanding recollections from the day, but one in particular will stay with me forever. Dani and her bridesmaid were pondering how one of those old school perfume bottles worked – you know, the ones with the puffy pump bit on – this one was full of some sort of body glitter I think. Anyway, after squeezing the end multiple times it was suddenly realised that there was a valve to release the built up pressure, it was agreed that releasing the valve would solve the problem. A tsunami of a glitter based substance exploded out of the bottle and covered everything in a three foot radius, most notably it was all up the bag that the wedding dress was residing in which had only be zipped up a few moments earlier – you know that look when you realise how close you were to disaster but then just how funny the situation is? – rolling around laughing ensued.
Not even the rain could dampen spirits, the ceremony was outdoors and bloody typical it decided to rain. But no-one cared, everyone was too busy crying at how lovely everything was – did i cry? – look, maybe, i had something in my eye! ok! a really nice touch was how the rings were kept in a small container and passed around everyone in the ceremony before finding there way to the front. Just around the corner from where the ceremony was held is a little tucked away area which is nice and secluded for some shots of the couple. I’m not a fan of contrasty light falling on the bride and groom, however we needed to cheat in order to get that lovely back lighting, placing them both in the shade of a tree blew out the background nicely. Settings wise it was probably around iso400 at f2.8 1/80, ill dig out the files if you really want to know.
The laughter continued with the group shots which saw the boys donning umbrellas and bouquets much to everyone’s amusement, fair play. The girls were in fine voice too re-making a photograph from their childhood with some general larking with heart shaped umbrellas.
Following this I managed to have a 10 minute conversation with the man in charge of the chocolate fountain, imported he said, from Europe he said, can I eat it I said. Sweet treats kept everyone going through the evening, crepes, doughnuts, a 5ft cake! this wedding had everything and it was a delight to be there to document it all, big love to Mark and Dani x
