wedding photography kettners, soho
This was probably one of the most embarrassing weddings of the year so far, I have to fess up, David gave me a cigar to smoke with the rest of the boys and I nearly died. True story.
Anyway, David & Lisa, what an awesome day. Shooting weddings in the city always changes the game, but there’s an interesting contrast between the bustle of London and how everything can seem to stand still for two people, I love that.
Kettners sits right in the middle of eclectic/exciting/engaging (call it what you will) Soho. The place is alive and can completely change its colours when the night time comes. The venue itself is truly unique, a touch of art deco and art nouveau in places, throw in a gramophone and a broad array of cocktails and champagne and you have Kettners in a nutshell.
To throw something else into the mix, ITV were making a documentary on the registry office – so ill be on tele in February. Although this was kind of fun, they had two camera rigs and a boom operator (said in the style of Sade) for a very intimate ceremony. I think i did a pretty good job of cropping them out – oh yeah, and they had jeans on! the cheeky buggers! BUT the ceremony was beautiful, like i said tres intimate, close friends and family and me hid behind a plant pot. I have to say kudos to Nikki and her team, there were other weddings going on during the day, but we didn’t see hide nor hair of them, a credit to the crew.
I’m always honoured to be a part of a wedding day, being asked to stay to enjoy the party makes it even more special. David and Lisa are such kind people, they even made sure I was fed before making the trip home, the food at Kettners is excellent, so you’ll understand this face :D
