Battersea Arts Centre Wedding Photographer
As a seasoned wedding photographer, I have been fortunate to capture the unique beauty of numerous venues. One of the locations that truly stands out is the iconic Battersea Arts Centre. Each Battersea Arts Centre wedding reflects a unique blend of history, character, and modern elegance, making it a dream for any wedding photographer.
The Rich History of Battersea Arts Centre
Battersea Arts Centre, a Grade II* listed building in the heart of London, is steeped in history. Its story began in 1880 when it served as the town hall for the Metropolitan Borough of Battersea. After a stint as the Grand Theatre, the building lay unused until 1991. This was when it was resurrected by Battersea Arts Centre as a creative hub for the local community. Even the devastating fire of 2015 couldn’t dampen its spirit. Instead, the centre rose from the ashes to become one of London’s top wedding venues.
Experience As A Battersea Arts Centre Wedding Photographer
As a Battersea Arts Centre wedding photographer, I have the privilege to capture the charm of this remarkable venue. The main hall, restored after the fire, creates a magnificent setting for the wedding ceremony. Its capacity to seat up to 600 guests for the ceremony and 350 for the reception (or 800 for a standing reception) makes it a flexible choice for weddings of various sizes.
Character and Elegance: The Perfect Backdrop
The historic architecture, combined with the delicate restoration, provides an incredible backdrop for wedding photographs. The exterior is both elegant and chic, perfect for group pictures and couple portraits. The intricate corridors, showcasing many of the building’s 125-year-old original features, offer an edgy look that adds to the charm of the wedding photos. The exposed bricks and peeling plaster beautifully integrate the building’s history and its resilience, creating a distinctive character that makes every photograph a piece of art.

If you are planning a wedding at Battersea Arts Centre, you need a London wedding photographer who can bring out the unique charm of this venue. With my experience and passion, I aim to provide you with a visual narrative that embodies the essence of your celebration. As your Battersea Arts Centre wedding photographer, I look forward to creating timeless memories of your special day. Battersea Arts Centre is a Grade II* listed building located in Battersea, London. The centre first opened its doors in 1880 as the town hall for the Metropolitan Borough of Battersea. It was designed by local architect J. D. Young in the Italianate style and featured a grand marble staircase, a dome, and a 40-foot tall clock tower. In 1934, the building was converted into a theatre and became known as the Grand Theatre. It continued to operate as a theatre until 1975, when it closed due to financial difficulties. The building remained unused until 1991 when it was bought by Battersea Arts Centre, a charity that restoration work and reopened it as a venue for arts and culture. Today, the centre is home to a variety of performance spaces, galleries, and working artist studios. It remains an important creative hub for the local community and hosts over 1,000 events each year, which is where I come in to capture your epic celebration. After being gutted by a horrific fire in 2015, Battersea Arts Centre has certainly risen from the ashes and is certainly a worthy contender for one of London’s top wedding venues.
Battersea Arts Centre main hall wedding ceremony Considering only a few years ago this hall was completely gutted by a fire, it’s a wonderful thing to now be able to celebrate weddings here. The restorers have done a fantastic job synthesising old and new. A brand new roof creates a wonderful expansive space, the damaged walls add character and are a nod to the buildings history. It’s a truly epic location for your wedding ceremony. The hall is so big it can seat up to 600 for your ceremony, and up to 350 seated for your reception or 800 if you have a standing reception. In a word, it is epic. Chic and sophisticated The exterior of the art centre is beautiful and makes for an excellent location for group pictures and couple portraits. The corridors inside the building have also been delicately handled in the restoration, they keep many of the buildings 125 year old original features, but also has the cool edgy look of peeling plaster that beautifully integrates an, although devastating event, into the buildings rich history.
