St Mary of Aldermary church wedding photography

Hidden along Watling street you will find another of London’s hidden gems, a church of epic proportions somehow hidden in plain sight. London’s churches deserve a visit just to stand and admire the craftsmanship and the sheer beauty of them, but particularly in the case of st. Mary of Aldermary, mainly because of the huge stained glass window that dominates your field of vision upon entering the church. I was raised a catholic and as such I’ve seen Catholic and Christian churches right across Europe, each one has fascinated me as they each have a slightly different interpretation of what it means to be penitent before god whilst following the same blueprint. The Sagrada de Familia for example in Spain, what a stark contrast to the Anglo Saxon churches of Britain. All of these tiny details always make photographing weddings in london all the more interesting. The wedding featured in these photographs at St.Mary of Aldermary is in fact a fusion wedding of two faiths, something that I always love to see in modern Christian Britain. As the British public continue their searches for their spiritual homes, it’s important that existing religions give people the freedom to express their beliefs in different settings. Maybe we can’t all agree on the correct way of being, but that’s ok, we’re all learning. The most important thing is that we are each accepting of the other and allow others their own religious freedoms. The absolutely staggering workmanship on the ceiling has to be seen to be believed, it’s a wonder that these buildings survived through the blitz. Such tiny, delicate features that have all been hand made survived such carnage and destruction. Unlike some churches in London, this one opens up straight onto a designated footpath, which sounds rather dull of a feature to mention, but it’s an important one and why it should be considered amongst your top London wedding venues. One because it allows your guests to dominate the space and push away any members of the public, but two because you are nowhere near a main road and can take your time with confetti pictures and greeting guests. Or you can simply make a swift exit as taxis are still allowed down the street to pick you up.
