The Landmark Hotel Wedding Photography

Hello, I’m Liam Smith, a seasoned wedding photographer, and you’ve landed on my wedding photography at the Landmark Hotel page, so welcome! Today I have an incredible Jewish wedding to share with you, epic in terms of style, scale and emotion, this day was a real treat to photograph. I love photographing Jewish weddings and here I’ll share my experiences of capturing this beautiful love story at one of London’s most iconic venues, The Landmark Hotel.

The Grandeur of The Landmark Hotel

Situated in the heart of London, The Landmark Hotel is steeped in history and elegance. This iconic venue, with its grand Victorian architecture, luxurious décor, and sprawling atrium, sets a fairy-tale backdrop for a couple’s special day.

The Landmark Hotel, originally known as The Great Central Hotel, is a cherished piece of London’s rich architectural history. This iconic establishment was opened in 1899, designed by the celebrated architect Sir Robert William Edis. It was one of the last great Victorian railway hotels built during the era’s ambitious railway expansion.

The hotel’s distinct architectural style and luxurious interiors were a symbol of opulence, drawing in guests from around the globe. However, the mid-20th century saw the hotel facing various challenges, including a period during the Second World War when it was used as a convalescent home for injured officers. The property also spent some years serving as a British Rail office.

In the late 1980s, the building was purchased and painstakingly restored over several years to bring back its former grandeur, reopening as The Regent Hotel in 1993. After another change in ownership, it was rebranded in 1995 as The Landmark London that we know today.

With its grand Victorian façade, magnificent central atrium, and luxuriously designed rooms, The Landmark Hotel today stands as a testament to its rich past. It is renowned for its world-class service, exquisite dining venues, and stunning event spaces, making it a popular choice for elegant city weddings.

In my opinion, best suited for weddings out of season, mostly Winter, because each of the rooms will require some sort of artificial lighting setup at all times of year. Plus there’s no outdoor space such as a garden for your guests to enjoy. Yes there is a ‘garden’ bar in the main square of the hotel, but this is undercover and lacks the authenticity of being outside in the summer sun.

Celebrating Authentic Moments at The Landmark Hotel

There’s something incredibly moving about capturing real, authentic moments. From heartfelt glances between the couple to bursts of laughter from the guests, these candid instances are the heartbeat of your wedding day. It’s my commitment to document these special moments, to create photographs that mirror your memories, making you smile every time you look at them. If you’re planning a wedding that has a huge guest list, then the Landmark should definitely be on your short list. Spaces in London that can house huge events (and do it well) are in short supply. The Landmark has the added benefit of being completely undercover, all the rooms from the ceremony room, area for group pictures, reception are and dining area are all contained within the hotel, this is important because more guests equals more money. So, you may need to invite lots of people but keep costs down, so the Landmark enables you to get married out of season, because it’s all undercover so the weather outside doesn’t matter.

Your Wedding, Your Story

Every couple has a unique story, and my job is to tell it through my lens. Every couple admits that they on the whole, dislike having their photograph taken. But that’s pretty much everyone, isn’t it? I even heard David Gandy say he didn’t like it. I digress. The most important thing is to capture the truth of your wedding. Theres no point staging photographs, they just aren’t real. In twenty years time, the natural moments between you, your friends and family are what you will cherish most, thank fully, you hired me and I photographed them all :)
