Woburn Abbey Wedding: A Stunning Location for an Unforgettable Day
Nestled in the heart of Bedfordshire, Woburn Abbey offers a breath-taking backdrop for wedding photography. With its rich history, enchanting architecture, and stunning landscapes, it’s no wonder that couples from near and far are drawn to this magical location. Join me as we delve into the captivating charm of Woburn Abbey and the unforgettable moments I’ve captured as a wedding photographer at this historic venue.
The Allure of Woburn Abbey: A Glimpse into the Past
Woburn Abbey has stood the test of time since its founding in 1145 by Cistercian monks. As the ancestral home of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, the Abbey boasts a fascinating history that adds an extra layer of depth to any wedding celebration held within its walls. The opulent interiors, adorned with works of art and exquisite furnishings, provide an incredible setting for intimate wedding ceremonies and lavish receptions alike.
Photographing Unforgettable Moments at Woburn Abbey
As a wedding photographer, I am continually inspired by the stunning surroundings of Woburn Abbey. From the manicured gardens and serene lakes to the ornate rooms within the Abbey itself, there is an abundance of captivating backdrops for capturing awesome moments.
So, you’ve got the perfect setting, so why wait?
I have no idea how they did it, but these guys managed to plan their day in only a few months, and with style I might add!
Now here’s one for the Woburn buffs, I’m sure I saw a bronze Tortoise on the pathway up to the house, did mine eyes deceive me? What’s that all about? Upon further inspection at a later wedding, I’m pretty sure this is in honour of a beloved family pet, you know, from back in the days when having giant tortoises wandering around the grounds was absolutely normal.
There is something so wonderfully extravagant about getting married ‘on the Woburn estate’. The architecture and the grounds provide an awesome backdrop for photographs, and as you can see above, the epic tree couldn’t be left out.
As much as I love the epic tree, I think my favourite image of this set is the very last one. It tells me who these guys are, who they are together and how they want to live their lives. It’s fun, it’s playful, it’s silly. Life is serious for sure, there are plenty of moments that call for calmness and respect. But this moment, in the photobooth, this is two people being who they want to be and who they want to be together. There is never enough laughter in the world, make sure that each and everyday you choose happiness. Be open, be vulnerable and be silly, life is too short to not embrace the child inside.
I’m enamoured by the fact that the wedding season stretches right from the early bursts of spring through to the cold snaps of winter. Each provides such a different type of light, from the fresh greens and bluey hues of succulent spring, to those long shadowy autumnal afternoons, I do love England. Not only for the changes in weather but for the excuse to start eating certain things, ones mind wonders to mince pies and brandy cream somewhere around august.
Creating a Legacy of Memories at Woburn Abbey
A wedding at Woburn Abbey is more than just a celebration of love; it’s also a chance for couples to become part of the rich tapestry of history that makes this venue so special. As a wedding photographer, it’s a genuine honour to be a part of that journey.
Plenty of genuine joy in this one, heartfelt hugs, belly laughs and ducking under a five foot eight ceiling. The emotion levels were cranked up to eleven when the pipers began to play. The sound built up in the belly of the hallway before being unleashed upon the main arena. Such an awe inspiring cacophony from only a handful of players, truly spectacular. It is of course customary for the bride and groom to partake in the playing, and they of course, did not disappoint…
“WOW! Honestly we can’t thank you enough we are totally overwhelmed by the photos they are just perfect, you are a genius!”
