Who needs a Garthmyl Hall wedding photographer? you? well that’s just brilliant, because I know a guy who’s shot a wedding there before and the pictures turned out…well, just dandy! Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Welsh countryside, Garthmyl Hall stands as a beacon of historical elegance and serene beauty, making it an idyllic location for an epic wedding!
Wild flower meadow and walled garden? Check!
Views of the valleys? Check!
Beautiful on the inside too in case it rains? Check!
Firmly cemented as one of my favourite places in the UK. Why? of the course all the aforementioned, but! the staff who run it are so lovely, you really do feel like it’s a home away from home. Just go visit, you’ll see what I mean.
Iconic Photo Spots at Garthmyl Hall
Sometimes visiting a venue before the wedding just isn’t possible, but for you buys out there in internet land reading this, you don’t need to worry, because I’ve been to garthmyl hall before and know it inside out. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from you really are spoilt for choice. We were truly blessed on the day I went last (pictures below) the sun put on a glorious show and the pictures are bloody brilliant.
Timing and Lighting Considerations
Garthmyl is stunning…but this is Wales after all. The UK doesn’t have the greatest reputation for blazing hot summers, and such is the nature of the green and pleasant lands, they’re green because, well, they get lots of rain. So whilst I don’t want to put them out of business, do consider the time of year you choose to get married. Don’t visit the venue in August and fall in love with the views, then book in December. Fog, wind, rain, all the elements can conspire against you and roll in at a moments notice. My top tip for getting the best out of garthmyl? Roll with it. Fully embrace the fact that the day might be a bit indoors and a bit outdoors. You’ll always be rewarded for a low stress approach and you’ll have a much better day. Trust me, I flew to Italy once and it rained there all day, so you cant guarantee anything!
Check out this glorious celebration of friends, family and the definition of true love.
What an honour it was to photograph this day, one of the all tie favourites for sure.
Must-Have Shots at Garthmyl Hall
Whilst I specialise in documentary photography, it’s always worth you telling me if you have a particular spot at the venue you’d love a photograph at. When there’s so much to choose from, I’d hate for you to miss out on something you really wanted. Always ask, if I foresee a problem then I can flag it, that’s were experience is king!
The Golden Hour Portraits
Because of the elevation and orientation of Garthmyll, there’s a good chance you’ll get a really good sunset, and if you do it’s worth factoring into the schedule 15 mins to head outside and get some pictures. Maybe just after the speeches to decompress and get some air.
