Farnham Castle Wedding Photographer

Farnham Castle boasts a rich history that dates back to the 11th century. Originally constructed by William the Conqueror, it served as a royal residence for many generations. It was transformed in the 16th century, adopting the Tudor style, and became the domicile of the renowned Hume family. Today, Farnham Castle draws tourists with its charming gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The castle’s dungeons, rumoured to be haunted by Lady Catherine Grey, also make for an intriguing exploration. Whether you’re drawn by its historical roots or alleged paranormal activity, Farnham Castle is an exceptional place to visit!

Surrey is truly beautiful, and being a Farnham Castle wedding photographer for over a decade has been an absolute privilege. Situated in the picturesque town of Farnham, this remarkable venue is conveniently located atop a hill. Over the years, Farnham Castle has undergone several renovations to improve access and facilities, and to enhance its appeal as a wedding venue. One recent noteworthy addition is the balcony on the castle ruins, which offers breathtaking panoramic views over Farnham town.

The gate house has been refurbished to offer a serene start to the day, and the Lantern Room, with its window wall and neutral tones, serves as a versatile ceremony room. The vast garden space is another asset, offering more than what one would typically expect from a wedding venue. It strikes a beautiful balance with open lawns and cosy areas to explore without overwhelming the guests. With an impressive viewing tower, it’s a space that ensures no one loses track of time or misses group photographs.

As the day gives way to evening, the Great Hall provides a stunning backdrop for speeches, with its fireplace creating interesting points of interest for photographs. Overall, for anyone in Farnham, this fantastic local wedding venue is a dream location for a Farnham Castle wedding photographer.

Farnham is a historical town situated in Surrey, England, with a story dating back to its first recorded mention in the Domesday Book of 1086. Back then, it was a humble village housing just over 100 people. But by the 13th century, Farnham had evolved into a bustling market town, courtesy of its strategic location at the junction of several important trade routes. Throughout the centuries, it has been home to eminent residents such as the poet John Keats and the actor Richard Burton. Today, Farnham thrives as a vibrant community, marked by a lively town centre and an eventful calendar of happenings. Whether you’re interested in the past or present, Farnham is definitely worth exploring. Overlooking the town of Farnham for nearly nine centuries stands the magnificent Farnham Castle. Built in 1138 by Henry of Blois, Bishop of Winchester, the castle is a relic of medieval times when the Diocese of Winchester was the wealthiest in England. Farnham Castle, one of the few surviving medieval homes in England, has hosted several English monarchs. With its expansive gardens and manicured lawns spread across 5 acres, the castle offers a picturesque backdrop for weddings.

Liam's unassuming charm and friendly nature made him more of a guest than a service provider. How I Photograph Weddings. My Approach

As a documentary wedding photographer, my job is to not only pay attention, but to interact, to talk and to understand. By being a part of your day in the fullest sense is how I’m able to tell such rich and layered stories. I discreetly capture a wedding by being fully immersed in it. I’m quite tall, but you won’t know I’m there. I think my portfolio is testament to my ability to blend in. My height and loud voice definitely come into their own when it’s time to wrangle the crowd for a group photograph. My work combines a number of styles and techniques to create my own unique way of documenting weddings. Some moments call for humour, which is where photojournalism comes into play, other moments call for tenderness, which calls for a softer, fine art approach. Being an excellent photographer requires a broad skillset and the experience to know when to deploy each one. My pictures capture your personalities, your bond and the relationship you share with your family and friends. I tell your story without the need for posing or recreating moments, my approach results in a genuine, and heartfelt visual narrative of your special day. Creative, Natural Wedding Photography at Farnham Castle

As an unobtrusive wedding photographer, my style is distinctive for its documentary approach. Many wedding photographers today incorporate elements of documentary in their work, but often resort to posing couples and orchestrating images. I vow never to ask you to pose or make cheesy faces. My belief lies in capturing the pure essence of a moment, focusing on the genuine, heartfelt interactions that occur. My camera works silently, ensuring you typically won’t even be aware of my presence.Consider the couple’s portrait at the top of the page. There are no forced poses or choreographed moves, just two people in a secluded spot enjoying a moment together in beautiful lighting. This approach ensures that the photographs truly reflect you as a couple. If you can look at an image and think, ‘Yes, that’s how I stand, that’s how I smile, and that’s how I love,’ you will cherish it forever because it captures the real you.

This genuineness resonates in every image, allowing you and others to see the care and affection that everyone at the wedding feels. Your reactions were genuine, everyone else’s reactions were genuine, so collectively, the photographs carry great emotional weight, reflecting the love back at you whenever you look at them. The photographs displayed on this page are a small selection from a real wedding at Farnham Castle. I’ve chosen to only show a handful to respect the privacy of my couples who have kindly agreed for these few to be used. This allows me to showcase the quality of my Farnham Castle wedding photography. As a Surrey-based wedding photographer, I work across the whole county, so please do get in touch if you think I would be a good fit for your wedding day.
