Top London wedding venues
The big smoke has it all, history, atmosphere, architecture, charm…weather? Maybe not guaranteed.
But when the sun does come out, there are few better places for me, your London wedding photographer, to take awesome pictures and document your friends and family having a blast..
Its no surprise that thousands of people each flock to London as their city of choice when it comes to picking a perfect wedding venue. The lavish hotels, the grandeur, its all here; tying the knot in the heart of the city is a brilliant way to celebrate your union.
Whatever you’re looking for, I guarantee you’ll be able to find it in London. The London eye? How about a big hotel? The Connaught maybe? More of a Victorian orangery feel you’re after? How about wedding photography at the Horniman museum? Greenwich and Blackheath offer beautiful London architecture away from the mad crowds too. Whether its cocktail hour crazy or bunting for miles you’re looking for, it’s all waiting for you in the capital.
There is a lot to choose from, thousands of buildings are registered as licenced wedding venues in London, an overwhelming number when first starting out planning your wedding. Luckily, you found my page and as an award winning wedding photographer who has worked in all manner of venues across the capital as your guide, you’re in safe hands.
This list is completely biased. I haven’t asked anyone else their opinion, no other suppliers or wedding photographers or videographers, not even a casual chit chat in a wedding industry forum. This list of amazing wedding venues in London is based purely on what I’ve seen with my own two eyes.
I get to see all the behind the scenes action. How the staff behave, how seriously the venue treats each client, the care taken over the food, the maintenance of facilities, all of it. If I’ve been to a venue who treats it like any other work day, then I’m not impressed. I strive for excellence in what I do, each client on their day are the most important people in the world, I believe all involved in the day should treat it the same way. If ever it becomes too much like work, then you’re in the wrong industry.
That is why on my ultimate list, I’m including venues that may not be considered the most posh, or high falooting hoity toity places. No. I’m going for heart and soul, venues that really care about their clients and do everything they can to make sure your day is epic.
Places that make brides and grooms feel amazing, and well taken care of. You wont find a London wedding venue on this list that I haven’t worked at, so you can see my photographs and appreciate what they look like on an actual wedding day, not just in a staged shoot for a catalogue.
Without further delay, here is my list of the top wedding venues in London
Best London Wedding Venues
The Brewery
This list is in no particular order, but I do have a soft spot for The Brewery as a wedding venue. It’s size, it’s scale, the grandeur, the flexibility and of course, the styling. The building has undergone millions of pounds worth of restorations and it’s always wonderful to see a building of historical import in London being repurposed for modern day needs without killing it’s soul.
The massive windows upstairs are perfect for group and couple portraits as they let in so much light, even on a cloudy February day that I experienced last year, it still looks awesome.
A hotel on site makes this a top choice for many couples looking for a convenient location. Many wedding venues in London require travel to and from the venue, The Brewery however has a top class hotel on site, a two minute walk from the dancefloor to the hotel means you can go hard on the dancefloor and not have to worry about how to get home!

The Horniman museum
I can’t exactly tell you why I feel such an affinity for this venue, probably because ever since the first wedding I ever shot there, the team at Suzanne James have always made me feel so incredibly welcome. If you’ve ever watched any of their video content you’ll see that they are a genuinely lovely bunch. That always comes across on the open days too, the team are genuinely excited to be a part of your day smiles abound, and everyone does their upmost to make sure the client has a wonderful experience.

St Bart’s Brewery
St Bart’s is something of a unique pub wedding venue, insofar as it’s in the city of London, and considering the city itself shuts down at the weekend, you have all of the benefits of a pub venue, the homely atmosphere, loads of beer etc, without the area outside it being surrounded by the public. It is essentially a completely private venue at the weekends in a completely public space. The market nearby gives a place for photographs should it be raining, or the park over the road gives us paved green space to work with too, a true gem in the heart of the capital.

St Clement Danes Church
The central church of the royal air force, I’m under the impression you need a connection to the RAF in order to get married here, it’s a beautiful church in the middle of the city and obviously then really well connected to anywhere you wish to hold your reception afterwards.
The name Clement commemorates the Christian martyr .Clement served as Bishop of Rome in AD 91, he was banished to work in the Crimean quarries as he refused to worship the heathen gods. Clement was thrown into the sea with an anchor around his neck. Clement drowned, but the sea then withdrew three miles revealing a ruined temple, in which Clément’s body was found, still with the anchor around his neck. This is why on approaching St Clement Danes Church you will find an anchor crest by the entrance. Danish settlers who had married English wives were allowed to settle in the area, taking over a small church dedicated to St Clement, the patron saint of mariners. The church became known as ‘St Clement-of-the-Danes’. In the 11th century, William the Conqueror rebuilt the church, but it was not kept in good order and was left to decay. Christopher Wren was invited to rebuild the church. The church received a direct hit from a bomb in May 1941. All that remained were the outer walls and the tower. Hill Gardens & Pergola
First off, don’t get carried away when you click on this link and see just how cool this venue is, you need a permit to shoot there. It’s not hard to get, but it will cost you a few quid if you’re just planning on having a pre-wedding or an engagement shoot. If you get married there, no worries. I have been stopped whilst photographing a couple there before, the ground staff come around and check you have the paperwork, luckily the groom had it printed. Now then, it’s time to get carried away! This place in Hampstead Heath is epic it’s right next to Kenwood House and has so many interesting architectural pieces to play with, vantage points to be explored and light to be manipulated. It’s truly awesome. You will have to contend with the public if you go in the middle of the day for a photoshoot, so I suggest either first or last thing to avoid the crowds (or alot of photoshopping).
